This mirrors my experience. I had no issues 2017 - 2020. I've only had one entry after 2020, and the staff on site insisted I was in the wrong line after the e-Gate failed to work. I got my record updated landside, and I was also assured that things had been fixed. Unfortunately, everyone was being steered toward the e-Gates upon leaving, so I couldn't test to see if NIA actually fixed my record.
I likely won't ever be able to check again based on my post above. (Watch passport control ask why I didn't use the e-Gates upon entering in a few weeks.)
I had similar issue with E-gate in Taiwan this year. But mine is more complicated.
I lost my US passport and had to re-apply. So after paying the fee and go through the interview process.
E-gate would work every time entering the country with new passport (still need to fill out arrival card before). But I couldn’t make E-gate work on exiting. It turned out my profile was split between new and old passport. So Egate never registered me for exiting the country with new passport. It was finally fixed on most recent trip.
so far no more issue- just be patient and go talk to custom officer after immigration. They finally merged my profile and it’s ok now:
