This is good to know! Maybe I will get lucky on my next trip! I will also submit feedback to QR. Maybe if enough people offer feedback, they will right the ship.

That is still the case. They still get a top Bordeaux that would typically be served in F on many airlines. A notch below what they served 10 years ago, but still far superior to what all other airlines serve in J. Other airlines offering has also gone down in j/F with rare exceptions.
If Chateau Batailley or a Grand Cru Classe Saint Emilion is what Dodgeflyer drinks every day, then I admire him. We are talking wines at USD70 a bottle.
You're definitely right, the Bordeaux is a step above what many airlines would serve in J, but the Shiraz on the menu right now (just one of two other choices) retails for under €10 and has a 3.5 rating on Vivino. Personally speaking, I preferred the Bordeaux wines served in AF J and even some of the wines served in intra-Europe busines class on TAP. I also quite enjoyed the wine selection on Japan Airlines J.

There's nothing wrong with the Bordeaux. It just shouldn't be the only drinkable red on the menu. Out of the carriers I've flown I'd rank Qatar's wine offerings above most North American and European carriers (UA / LH / BA), but below Japan Airlines and Air France.
