Booking rooms on Mr & Mrs Smith's website is more expensive than booking with the hotels directly. That's the same problem as when booking on Hyatt's website for SLH hotels - you will earn Hyatt nights (and points), but you are essentially paying extra to get those nights...
I've seen multiple sources say this, and maybe it's true as a general rule. But the few properties I've looked at have had the same price on Mr and Mrs Smith as on the hotel website. The problem I'm running into is that the hotels I want to book all say that I will be charged directly by th hotel during my stay... So there would be no way to use the Mr and Mrs Smith gift card, which as I understand from the Hyatt terms and conditions, can ONLY be used through the Mr and Mrs Smith website.
