Given that DL took great pains in the latest FAQ changes to distinguish between earned status and status extension, and earned would run concurrently and overlap with extended, it seems to make sense that DL would hold a carrot out to extended DMs to also earn PM. It will at least get me looking at how easy it would be for me to earn PM.
"For overlapping years, you will not receive a second selection of Choice Benefits": I wish DL would have added, "for the same medallion level." That would have clarified it.

Here is how I am reading: lets say, if you extend DM status for 2025, you get DM bennies. In addition if you organically earn PM status for 2025 by hitting the 15k MQDs threshold, you will get PM bennies as well.
Now...what the FAQs state is that, say you then end up also organically earning DM status for 2025 by hitting the 28k MQDs threshold (i.e., there is an overlap between extended & organically earned status), then you will
"not" get an additional set of DM bennies. IMO, this seems shortsighted -- DL/Amex could have easily incentivized continued spend for those with extended DM status.
