Comparing city hotels vs a beach destination hotel is a bit skewed in balance.
At WA BKK / Fullerton Singapore the higher standard of living is more focused on lavish items.
The presentation, image and quality of food in Bangkok and Singapore are more true to 5star western standards than the holiday island of Bali.

But then again you are right, for the Aman amount of $! It ought to be perfect.
And indeed charging your wife for de-caf tea is just petty cruel and not service orientated......

It seems though that the Aman direction in branching out to city hotels
(NYC - new & seen and be seen)
has lost the focus on the discrete private luxury (older remote resorts)
