UA gives you the option of looking at a whole month, so IMHO it's not time consuming. OTOH, if there is no availability then one would have to check every day.
Hint: look for one ways (even if you want to book a round trip) when searching, IMHO it makes it easier to see availability. IIRC Singapore Air is still not visible on UA, so you would have to call in. Otherwise I'm sure you'll get some PMs.
