Honestly PDBs are more important on short 900 mile hops where there frequently isn't time for a drink service in the sky. Seems they're just trying to cut costs with this.
I have literally never been in F and been denied a beverage in the air due to lack of time. Maybe on the new BDL-LGA flight, but this certainly isn't "frequent" by any stretch of the imagination.
