ORC is for when the airline rebook you on other flights. If you had DL rebook you onto AA (or most likely UA) then you would qualify. There would be no unused eticket in this case, DL would've simply provided the funds to AA/UA.
The issue was they couldn't rebook us for the next 2 days on DL and flat out refused to book us on AA or B6, both of which had seats available on our day of departure. Not wanting to lose 2 days of our honeymoon (and 2 pre-paid, non refundable nights of a very expensive resort) we bit the bullet and paid through the nose for AA to get us to Colombia that day. DL did try and rebook us on Avianca, but Avianca rejected our tickets since their flight was oversold. It was a huge mess involving lots of back and forth between the DL and Avianca counters at JFK. DL insisted we were booked on Avianca, Avianca couldn't see us on their passenger list.

If I tell them to keep the ticket value, any chance of the MQMs?
