From China's point of view, they don't care when the inbound aircraft takes off. They don't bother to calculate the time difference. They just refuse to accept UA's flight arriving on Sunday (anytime) because it was the guilty flight carrying more than 5 positive cases on a Sunday.
The Sunday flights arrive on Monday, but that seems irrelevant. The 'offending' flight was December 26; they let Jan 2 and Jan 9 go, then stop Jan 16 and Jan 23, then all is good again. And none of the Wednesday and Friday flights are suspended.
Yes, that's odd to me.
