I will tell you right now Aeromexico will NEVER EVER provide you with hotel accommodation, they are the scum of this Earth. You have two options: (1) credit card chargeback or (2) pay for the hotel yourself and then sue them in a small claims court to recover your costs.
They only comply when the judge forces them to. Been there.
Yes, I should've checked that before buying. But with AV and LA both being in bankruptcy as well, the choices are pretty limited for going to S. America.
Ideally they just protect me onto Delta. I have no confidence in the hotel they will provide even if they are willing to provide one.
Small claims court, been there and done that on a local travel agency that scammed me money out of visa applications. The wait was long pre-covid, will probably take more than 12 months for a court date with the current back log.

Is Aeromexico still fighting chargebacks? and then be patient , if nothing changes before departure then you can consider searching for a hotel near airport , as its super cheap
Thank you. Worst case scenario is I will pay for the hotel out of my pocket. But with the current favorable premium class fare, I am also contemplating a charge back and jump ship. However, I will keep on fighting until the last minute. It's about not being bullied by AM into accepting what they see fit. Like I said before, if this is a voluntary change on my part, they will gladly collect whatever fees that they can think of and make me pay them. Since the pandemic began last March, I've had cancelled flights on AY, BA, CX, AA, AS, UA, JL, and GA. I've been protected on other carriers by all these other carriers and I've traveled enough to know for a fact that AM does protect passengers on a different carrier for cancellation. Otherwise, what entitles AM to charge a premium over other Mexican LCCs like Volaris and Interjet? AM is just using COVID as an excuse as if they are the only airline affected by the pandemic.
Unfortunately some people here are pushover and way give up too easily. I don't understand why some people here think that I am just too cheap to pay for the hotel, it's not about the money! Aeromexico, as a national carrier, needs to realize that stranding a passenger for 20 hours is not the correct way of conducting business.

If you think there is another carrier with better schedule to fit your needs, go ahead and book it.
Giving a 2 months notice or a 2 minutes notice still doesn't change the fact that inconvenience has been caused to the customers due to a drastic change in schedule and trip time.

But, with 2 months notice, AM certainly won't pay for a hotel and it is unlikely that any travel insurance will either. On the other hand, he isn't being "forced" to do anything. It is simply that convenience & comfort may come out of his pocket.
He can contact AM's insovlency administrator about a claim and perhaps in a few years if the claim is adjudicated in his favor, he may see 1-2% of the claim.
Same as above, the advance notice is irrelevant. An inconvenience has been caused regardless of how advanced the notice is.
I disagree with your view that I am not "forced". In fact even AM admitted that they are forcing me onto this 20 hours layover as they failed to offer any alternative itinerary. With the dynamic changes in the COVID situation and the resulting country-specific entry requirements, nobody even those in Mexican govt nor in Aeromexico can guarantee that an in-transit passenger would be allowed to leave the airport in 2 months time. So being forced to stay in the airporter terminal for 20 hours is certainly a possibility.
