It's when I am biking with some sunglasses that the FaceID does not work for me. When biking without some sunglasses, FaceID works ok for me and happens to be when I prefer FaceID over TouchID.
When I have a free hand and am not on the move, FaceID is less useful for me than it is when I am driving a wheeled vehicle of some sort or another.
It is definitely some sunglasses' use for me that makes FaceID sub-functional for me during some of my activities.
