I just got off the phone with a very nice agent, but after working on it for a while she said there's something in the system preventing her from making that change and she couldn't circumvent it.
She also referenced that their latest info is 500 miles radius, not 5000
The chat is available until 20:00 UK time, if you go to the Amex Travel page. It doesn't always pop up.. possibly when there are agents available. But the chat box will appear in the bottom right hand corner when it is.
Just try again tomorrow. Failing that, the online travel service team works M-F on the phone so call back on Monday in office hours.
Edit: Sorry Jona thought you were a UK user, so the 20:00 thing might be meaningless.
