Second option, get in touch with Immigration to extend your stay. Given the circumstances, they'd probably assist. It's certainly better to work on it now than to have to explain the overstay (and likely pay a steep penalty) after the fact!
If this info is still up to date, the overstay penalties are not that steep (starting at 1000 PHP for up to 1 month). But I'd recommend to try extending the visa legally of course.
