It made my purse too heavy!

I had it all in there, put it on my shoulder, then said OMG. Removing half my coin was the easiest way to reduce weight of my purse. (I could not delete the other main contributors to weight - work iPhone, personal iPhone, media storage iPhone for long trips which I take instead of an iPad)

I took the advice of the first reply I read before sleeping and leaving in the morning.

I posted at 3:31am, read the first reply at 3:38am, and went with that since it mostly confirmed my guess + added 2 euro coins since I knew I could use these for tipping.

However, I promise to take your advice in my next trip across the pond in April. (I want to get rolls of coin before I leave!)

Totally agree - it's not a charge if the coin is really a deposit.
