synzero was being a little dramatic re: restaurants at JFK T5, but having flown out of there for the first time in ages, I accept the point. Had trouble finding anything we wanted to eat, and the experience in the open space with the tables is terrible. We didn't really want a full service meal, but it didn't look like those restaurants were well insulated from the noise of that central court, either.
They could really use some pergolas or something to absorb sound in that central area as you're eating.
My friend just told me that the majority of the places in the food court have changed in the last several months. Lucy's and Dunkin are the only original ones left. I always thought everything was too expensive, even for an airport, but now even with no-name brands I doubt the prices will adjust. Lucy's was the only place that was actually good, and now it takes 20 minutes to order a single dish.
