Due to a schedule change from JNB, the lay over in Paris goes from 10h to 21h (AF995 to AF702). Assuming that AF does not pay the hotel and the lounge closes at night, if i buy a separate domestic ticket (with tight connection as it's the last flight of the day), will AF/JNB staff allow to check the luggage through the other destination?
Any other alternative?
Hard to understand what your question is.
On most days (except wednesday departure from JNB), AF995 can connect to AF520 with 3;30 transit; AF520 has one-stop and no F (but flat J beds). Or AF995 can connect to AF702 with 8:55 transit . AF 702 is usually a 77W with F.
What happened to make the transit so long?
If this is on a single PNR and this is caused by a schedule change, then AF would pay a hotel night.
But I understand that AF995 will start operating as a day flight (landing in CDG at 19:45)
starting on 30 March 2020.
You have to see with them if they are willing to pay hotel as AF702 departs at 14:40 the next day. On a paid ticket, I would expect them to offer you hotel. That's a 19h transit and I find it too risky to take an extra return flight in-between.
But the AF/JNB staff should be willing to check your bags through ABJ. Getting the LP escort service to/from your domestic flight is iffy.
