The newer Hyatt Place properties have nearly identical room furnishings, decor, beds, etc. as the newer Hyatt Houses. I can’t speak to the old Hyatt Place properties because I’ve just avoided those; I’ve only stayed in their new properties. Everything about the newer Hyatt Place hotels is very reminiscent of Hyatt House: except for basically only one room type, but they’re very nice, with updated technology, great room layout, clean, spacious, etc. To be honest I’ve had worse stays at low end Andaz rooms than I’ve had at the newer Hyatt Place properties. Even the actual breakfast plates at the last two new Hyatt Place hotels I stayed at were exactly the same as the breakfast plates at Hyatt House.
I don’t know if Hyatt plans to update the older Hyatt Place hotels but the fact that the new Hyatt Places are like this seems to mean to me that Hyatt is thinking of the future of the Hyatt Place brand as a kind of restricted subset of Hyatt House.
I think the fact that you have to avoid some of them says something about the brand as a whole. There’s no uniformity which makes Hyatt Place as a brand untrustworthy. I’m not saying at all that their newer properties aren’t nice, but the others drag down the brand altogether. Whereas you could pick any Hyatt House and the rooms would be amazing as would the customer service and breakfast.

That’s a pretty long list of Hyatt Place properties to avoid, which is why I can’t and won’t consider Hyatt Place and Hyatt House on the same level.
Not on this list is the Santa Fe, NM location which Hyatt made as a New hotel. Recently stayed there and the beds were horrible, and the breakfast was not at all good. Yet it was a higher category than HR in Downtown ABQ which we found to be actually quite nice.
