I was allowed into Japan for 7 hours. UK passport. I greatly enjoyed my time there (first time in years) and highly recommend the Naritasan temple complex to anyone with a similar amount of time.
I headed into Hong Kong on a 3 hour layover because I wanted to smoke a cigarette outside instead of one of those phone booths.
