(1)- since you’re crediting the flight to VA, it’s VA’s ORC policy that will govern, so you need to ask the question of VA ... start by checking how their bonus for full Y compares to their bonus for W
(2)- they’re required to refund the fare difference (which will probably be on the order of $100-150 each); imo $50 is a bit low for a 3-hour delay but I’d probably leave it alone (my son sat in DTW for nine hours last week because GoJet couldn’t find a pilot, and we’ve so far heard crickets with respect to any compensation
