In that case AKL is viable option. Many non-stop flights AKL-BNE or AKL-OOL
Can cost about the same as Au domestic flight. Or more $$. Can be easy air-side transfer, depending on checked luggage. Or land side.
UA often seem to add JQ flights as tag on for Au domestic flights
Awards can appear at any time. Or never appear.
