No, you're not oversensitive. You remember the bad things more than the good. And QF seems to specialise in reducing J catering on overnight flights when they assume pax sleep and are not interested in eating. It might simply be, for example the abbreviated salad (not even enough salad leaves to hide the bottom of the bowl), or abbreviating the midnight meal for westbound Trans Pacs from North America (this is a real issue when you can't eat in the lounge before the flight). The QF international shortcomings are more obvious when traveling on the competition - in my case, UA. Their international Trans Pac catering (UA) has been plentiful (as opposed to their domestic catering which is dreadful to non existant).

To be fair, I have had some brilliant meals in QF J and these are usually daylight flights (eg SYD-JNB).

I am more confident of a consistent and predictable flight experience with UA in Business on the Trans Pacs than with QF. I choose flights accordingly.
