When I last visited HK a couple of years ago, we got into a discussion here about how HK and China are more of a cash culture.
However as an affluent city, smart phone use is pervasive and mobile payments allow you to do more secure credit card transactions for those who want to use them and minimizes the need to carry cash.
If you lose an Octopus Card with some cash loaded, can that card be deactivated and the remaining credit transferred to a new card? Of course credit card banks will not impose liability for transactions made after a card is reported lost or stolen.
