Would anyone or Starwood Lurker be able to explain the rationale behind this unusual brand standard?
I'm told that due to the room size of the prototypical Aloft guestroom, rollaway beds are not allowed for safety reasons. As a fun alternative, the brand developed the Camp Aloft program which features a child-size air mattress and tent to create a fun and unique Aloft experience for kids. They also have plenty of double/queen rooms at all Aloft hotels that can accommodate up to 4 adults, which should also help to alleviate the necessity of a rollaway.
I hope this helps.
