Yes, it's a US-based credit card (better benefits) and I do have US residence so I usually carry around US-based cards for purchases.
And yes, I've always gotten refund very fast. This is the first time it's stuck in limbo. Anyway, AMEX opened a case for me and now I'm off the hook for the big charge, now I hope AMEX can sort it out with Cathay.
