AFAIK, Philippines is the only airline that has as bad a J hard product. They pack them in 2/2/2 on A330 with bunk bed seating. Considering J, imagine Y. Each alliance has the step-chuld so to speak. I flew YVR-MNL r/t on a PAL 777-300ER last year in Y and it was perfectly fine. Actually at 33" pitch, two full meals, polite and attentive service, a basic amenity kit and metal cutlery not plastic it was better than any US airline in long-haul Y. Oh, the ticket also cost less than $500 USD.
Now, their J is terrible, but that's a different story.
