would be great if uber actually tell people about this.
The taxi drivers are quite aggressive in Bali, and have been known to attack drivers if they think they are Uber drivers. Having an Indonesian phone number helps a lot, as I have had requests to meet across the street at a mini market.

They can not legally prohibit you from getting an Uber or Grab on a public street. We try to remain low key, and address the driver by his/her first name.

My wife had no problem taking an Uber yesterday from our resort in Nusa Dua.
