I'm spending a full day at LAX right now due to AA mess ups for my flight to Dublin (via JFK on AA A321 First).
Speaking to one of the AA staff at the Flagship lounge; she told me that a flight to Rio was delayed 24 hours yesterday making a bunch of people miss the Olympic Opening Ceremony. She said it was a union thing; the crew was 5 minutes over their max time.
Not totally sure I believe her; she also told me that should couldn't help me because my flight was purchased with AS miles (even though it was AA "mechanical" issues that made me miss my connection today). I called AS and they said; yeah, it's AA's issue. I spoke to another AA rep in the Flagship lounge at LAX and she got me set up on a BA flight in J to London instead.
FL ppl tried to tell you that because they couldn't force BA to open the 'U' inventory immediately. If there's no 'U' then they must book you into revenue fare code - Yes you may get miles for those.
