You have some advertisements on FlyerTalk which go by video (usually on the bottom of a page), using the flash player. I have now had several occasions where these videos 'captured' my RAM and froze my browser. The remedy is to kill the flash player before it kills the browser. Flash memory usage may rapidly grow to over 3 gigabyte after opening a thread on FT.
Tried with Chrome and Firefox, tried on 2 different machines and the result is the same. Something tells me there might either be a bug or the advertising company is doing a bad job. Don't have the problem on any other website I tend to visit.
Is this a known issue? Anyone knows a remedy?
I've had similar issues with Flash, on both FT and other sites, with multiple browsers (Mozilla, Safari, Chrome). OS is OS X Mavericks at home and OS X Yosemite at work. At home I uninstalled flash and don't miss it. I still get ads on FT pages, but it doesn't suck up all the CPU time and spin the fan up full blast.
At work I still have Flash installed (just got a new machine- went from a couple years old MacBook Pro to a brand new one) and still had the Flash problems. I wrote a little script that I can run with two keystrokes to kill flash (I didn't put it on a cron job because I occasionally need to let Flash run) and it cures it til I open some new windows with Flash ads (including nearly every FT page). No idea if there's audio ads because audio ads bug me so much that I keep all my machines on mute. Flash has had so many issues that it's effectively malware in and of itself.
No issues at all with FT on my iPhone 6, other than it being small.
