True, but I would describe the situation as Hyatt being unaware that the OP wasn't physically staying in both hotels. Since this seems to have been a deliberate deception, it seems to me to be more like fraud than a mistake. For all we know, other elites who were entitled to published elite benefits (such as upgraded rooms) did not receive them that night in the wife's hotel because she received inappropriate benefits due to her husband's status which is not transferable on ordinary non-award reservations.
