Out of town stay posted automatically. Call #1 to Hyatt Diamond line with explanation of my very legitimate situation asking for additional stay credit led to posting of points and Diamond bonus for local stay, but no stay credit. Call #2 led to posting of additional points and Diamond bonus, PLUS Diamond amenity and stay credit.^
HUCA in action.
Sorry, but how in the world was this a legitimate situation? In what universe should you get anything let alone Diamond bonuses and some additional points for a hotel room where you were nowhere near the hotel that night?
In this case, your account should be audited and the points/nights/stay credit removed for the hotel where your wife, but not you, stayed. You never intended to stay there and it was wrong to attempt to attach your HGP account number to the reservation. It's your HGP account, not a number to be shared with family and friends.
Moreover, if your wife received any elite perks such as an upgrade, late checkout, or lounge access, the hotel would be well within its rights to send you a bill for the cost.
