Seems unlikely, but it's total speculation I've pulled out of my bum. It seems as if AA could have already started charging for such seats if they wanted to, and they haven't. I've never understood why anyone would pay for "Choice" seats anyway, since there's no real advantage to sitting in them (other than proximity to the front door).
