During early January I applied for two Citi American Advantage Mastercards: one personal ending in XXXX and one business ending in YYYY. Each credit card have a promotion granting 50,000 bonus miles for $3,000 spend in the first three months. Each credit card was confirmed to be correctly linked to my AA account ZZZZZZZ. I met the spending requirements by the time of the February 28 statement. In March, I was awarded 50,000 bonus miles associated with personal account, but I did not receive my 50,000 business card bonus miles.

I received an email stating that American Airlines was having difficulty with their software and that there may be a delay in awarding the miles. This fact is supported by other credit card holders on this forum.

I waited for the entire month of March, and the miles were not awarded. From April to today (June 21, 2014) I have called eleven times to Citi and AA (taking into account suggestions in the forum mentioned). Citi always tells me the miles were reported. AA tells me Citi needs to notify them the miles were recorded and always get confused that it wasn't awarded because they see the 50,000 bonus miles associated with the personal account. In short, I am told to either wait days or weeks each time, and each AA and Citi point the finger to each other. In late May I thought I had some headway because the AA representative told me she would push my issue as priority to their partner desk. She told me to check back in 2 weeks. Today is 3 weeks and there are no miles or update.

I closed my personal account recently to try to avoid confusion between the personal and business accounts linked to my AA account.

Am my miles forever lost in purgatory?
