This is the generic cut-and-paste response I received:
Unfortunately, at this time, AirTran Airways does not participate in the TSA Pre-Check Trusted Traveler/Global Entry program. I would recommend checking www.tsa.gov periodically to see if their program has been expanded to include AirTran Airways. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
This "one size fits all" letter from Gary Kelly does not belong on the FL website, as it makes it sound as if FL is participating in PreCheck.

In particular,
This month, we are joining the Transportation Security Administration’s Pre-Check program, an expedited screening initiative in select security checkpoint lanes that allows preapproved travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear, and belt; keep their laptop in its case; and keep their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/ gels bag in a carryon. The TSA Pre✓™ fee-based application process allows U.S. citizens the opportunity to apply for expedited screening without a passport. To learn more about the program and how to apply, visit tsa.gov/TSA-Precheck. We will participate in the program in a phased approach, working with the TSA to bring this option to Customers in as many airports as possible.
