The thing I dont understand is that when I check my equifax, I dont see a pull from citi. I applied my checking account 1 week ago. In my case, it was due to opening/closing numerous Citi bank accounts funded using the Citi CR card back in the day. I still have one citi card left, but they closed the rest and have declined all my applications for credit cards/bank accounts since then. I have fine credit and nobody else complains except Citi. use your favorite search engine "blacklist citibank chase" or similar.
I'm not saying this is true in your case, only Citi knows and they ain't saying. Often you will get the declined credit reason as "previous unsatisfactory relationship".
