I had posted this earlier in an existing thread before this thread was started.

Perhaps the topic warrants it's own thread though...

"Today Delta announced that it will begin hourly, nonstop Delta Shuttle service between Los Angeles International and San Francisco International airports on Sept. 3, 2013.

The Delta Shuttle operation will include 14 daily flights in each direction and a product tailored to business travelers operating similarly to its New York Shuttle.

Flights will depart at the top of the hour beginning at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and will be operated by Delta Connection partner, Compass Airlines using 76-passenger E-175 aircraft with 12 First Class, 12 Economy Comfort and 52 Economy seats."

"The Delta Shuttle is entering a tough market that has had a number of airlines enter and exit over recent decades.

On Thursday, there are more than 50 round trips scheduled between the two airports, according to FlightStats.com.

United Airlines operates 15. Southwest Airlines operates 11. Virgin America operates eight. American Airlines operates six. Regional carrier SkyWest Airlines operates 10 as a Delta Connection carriers. Delta operates only one flight on its own metal.

In seats, United is the clear leader with more than 2,100 seats each direction. Southwest Airlines operates 1,573, assuming that all its 737s on that route have 143 seats. American has 900 to 960, depending on the seating capacity of its Boeing 737-800s.

The 14 flights by Compass as Delta Connection will offer 1,064 seats each direction."
