If not, then I will guess that the Gold Passport system, a relatively recent invention, is incompatible with the 1960's spaghetti COBOL reservation system that nobody still alive understans, and the juryrigging required to make a points reservation doesn't allow for the display of points required for a stay at a given hotel.
I believe the old system did, but your theory sounds highly plausible anyway. And I'll repeat it, whoever is responsible for their relaunch needs to be fired immediately.
