What hotelier in his right mind would want to deal with the self-entitled people on this board? If it was me, I would lock the door if I saw the Hilton franchise rep getting near.
Perhaps one looking for any of the following:
(1) Premium rates that the big chains seem to command in Europe vs. local boutiques in the 3-4 star range. (Frequently unwarranted IMHO, but they do seem to command it nonetheless.)
(2) Better access to international business travelers who frequently negotiate contract rates with the bigger brands.
(3) Access to the marketing, branding, promotional assets, etc. that a big brand brings.
Not saying that a super-luxe boutique should do it, but if you're independent now...or tied in with a lesser brand...it could make good sense to align with Hilton.
