Didn't understand your point vis a vis service though. We found it poor. Its a luxury collection hotel and you can't say its cheap. If you like the area there are other options
Did you believe that the service was 4-5 star quality? From recent comments doesn't seem that I am the only one complaining about the service but from your post its unclear what you thought about the service.
Put it bluntly - I wasn't comparing here to a Mandarin Oriental.. I thought the service was poor - unfortunately on several occasions and yes, we expected ( maybe wrongly ) better, more attentive service
Indeed a pity we did not meet...or maybe we did...:-)
In any case, to answer your question, yes, I found the service to be absolutely and undoubtedly solid 5 stars standard troughout our stay. And trust me I am a very demandind guest.
As i said the service did not (and did not pretend to) match completely the luxury top benchmark (name it Aman, MO, FS, RC....etc...) but it was definitively genuine and up to my expectation.
We did not have a 24 on duty butler, as i experienced in several other resorts, but there was a "floor responsible" that introduced himself to us on the very first day and showed up once in a while to check if everything was fine. The service express call did work perfectly.
I would rate the service I experienced in the following category as below reported:
Housekeeping - vary from good to very good.
Bell Boys and Buggy service - From good to excellent
Restaurants - from good to excellent
Front Desk - Not really had many opportunities to judge it, but in the few cases, excellent
Service Express - From very good to Excellent. The only time there was a delay in my room service order they even call me in the room to let me know that due to an accident (the waiter had follow with the order) there was the delay
Pool Service - A part the Aquapark, the pool service is almost not exsistent. This is my mayor concern and frankly speaking i don't know why they put a call to service button on every umbrella if then nobody come. This create frustration and irritation. Better to keep them away until they are ready. But it was not a big issue to me. When i needed something I just walked few steps to the bar and got it. It is true that they often run out ot towels...but it is true as well that i never waited more then ten minutes to see towels replaced. It is a very easy issue to fix and I hope they will fix it shortly.
Health Clubs and Spa - from very good to excellent
There were always tables free anywhere, always umbrella and sunbeds free everywhere (and i saw them increasing umbrella and sunbeds to the beach and pools according to occupancy)...the resort was immaculate clean every moment, everywhere...this to me is part of the service.
Finally, coming to the price point. Standard room (both at Romanos and Westin) starts in very high season from around 200 euro and there are often several rates lowering it consistently like the 30% advanced payment (which means entry room from 140 euro!) or the pay 2 get one free.....now to me this is absolutely cheap compared to other five star top properties all over Europe...and I have visited so many and there are very few in such unspoiled region and with so upscale grounds/buildings/decoration.
Personally I has a suite that costed me much more then that but still it was a very good deal imho.
I'm sorry other guests, as you said, did not had the same positive experience... but I'm happy I did and will certainly be back as honestly I doubt I will found a place in Europe where my family and especially my children can stay better then here.
Please feel to ask any further detail.
best
