The only airline offering first class nonstop between New York and Paris is, indeed, Air France. (Not all AA flights on this route offer first class, only the 777.)

Several other airlines fly this route offering business class. The Birish Airways subsidiary Open Skies operates EWR-ORY. It may be possible to redeem Avois for flights operated by this carrier, but their cash prices are reasonable.

Alas, British Airways adds a substantial fuel surcharge on all BA-operated longhaul flights, and these are also reflected if redeeming AA miles for an BA-operated flight -or- if redeeming BA miles for an AA-operated transatlantic flight.

AA does not offer first class to any European destination except London. AA's 767 business class is mediocre for an overnight flight because the seats do not fold into beds.
