Long-haul, yes, but to the continent is really cheap (£22 or £24, iirc). You could fly to LHR in the morning on the separate ticket and then back on the next flight on your RTW and ensure you have more than 24 hours before taking off on a long-haul flight from CDG. That will trigger the short-haul taxes instead of the long-haul taxes.
