A friend of mine just let me know that she and her husband (no status for either) boarded AA flights as 'priority' even though they were riding on Am Ex Rewards points tickets. She has an AA Citi brand credit card that she uses to keep her AA account alive.

As I predicted it is going to get very hectic and crowded at boarding.
