80k is a great offer but there is still yet a better 100k targeted offer at there. I haven't received either - bummer!!! So that being said, your letter should say somewhere when it expires. They usually always have an expiration date on them. I would wait and see if a 100k offer comes available before your offer expires unless you need to use the points ASAP.
I really think that Citibank wants to get more into the miles/points game like Chase & AMEX and will offer a 100k soon somewhere.
After giving your suggestion several days thought, I decided to go ahead and apply for the card. My thinking was now that the holidays are just around the corner it would be more likely I would be able to meet the $3000.00 spend in 3 months. If my wife were to get the card she could probably meet the spend in 3 weeks instead of 3 months. I hate shopping and other than filling my car with gas and picking up a gallon of milk, upon request, I never go into a store. If it were up to me I'd still be wearing my bellbottoms from college. Additionally I figured if they did come out with a higher points bonus I could always send a SM asking for the point bump. I applied this morning, was instantly approved and should receive the card within 2 weeks. Now I have to figure out how to meet the spend.
