If it does, you're going the wrong way. Even with the current roadworks, it only takes me 45-50 minutes from Xemxija. Simply go via Qormi. Admittedly Luqa is also dug up at the top of the hill, but there are numerous ways into the airport area.
Anyway, any votes for Air Malta's FlyPass for being the most useless frequent flyer program ever? Intra-Europe rewards are at around 50,000 miles with a very flaky redemption system. On most airlines you'll be able to fly across an ocean for that amount of points, not just the 60 miles of the Malta Channel.
