Yes, it is. Liningup before you are called to board is gate lice. Whether it is 60 minutes or 6 minutes is less relevant than the fact that you were in line before boarding started.

Doesn't excuse the other guy from behaving like an arsehole, but recognizing glass house behavior is often a worthwhile exercise.

FWIW, I usually stand at the adjacent gate (assuming nothing boarding there) so I can still hear the announcements but also not be in the way.

I noticed quite a few people standing in line before they are called..

I always thought that they were anxious to get on the plane or afraid of missing the flight..
