Because of the cabotage rule, no foreign carrier is permitted to carry local traffic within the U.S. QF flies JFK-LAX, but you cannot buy a ticket on that flight, unless you are continuing on to a foreign destination.

CX carries local traffic from JFK to YVR with lie-flats, and AA has a few widebody planes from MIA to LAX which would have lie-flat seats (at least some of which are angled lie-flats).
I am still trying to figure which AA flights (planes) have lay flats Mia to LAX. Can you hazard a guess please.
When you try to make a reservation at aa.com, the aircraft type for each flight should be displayed. The 777 and 763 aircraft types are the ones you want.
