If they won't check them thru for you, just exit customs and check them at the terminal D AA ticket counter. That shouldn't add more than 5 minutes. Then proceed as above. By the way, if you don't have elite status and are checking bags separately for DFW-OKC, you will have to pay checked bag fees.
