I have no military background but I can sleep anywhere - including standing up, in day clothes.
I wear comfortable clothes when flying [is that a bad thing?]. I'm perfectly capable of sleeping in them when necessary.
I travel in blouse, skirt and jacket, always tights (and other obvious undergarments*), and I sleep in those on aeroplanes. I just cannot bring myself to wearing pyjamas in public. I'm probably far too uptight for the modern world.
I learned, however, that a lined skirt is problematic on sloped beds. It causes me to slide down more than I would otherwise. Not that I would forgo wearing lined skirts on aeroplanes
Can we talk about thongs now? I've never met one.
What?! "Meeting" thongs? They're just flop flops in Australian English (or a piece of undergarments in British English).
*"Obvious undergarments" as in undergarments that are definitely worn, as opposed to 'visible' undergarments
