I stayed at the SFO airport FS on a Saturday night back in October. The hotel was fairly full with a couple of weddings going on and other events. I had a very low weekend rate, but still got upgraded to a suite and had a welcome gift sent up to the room (in addition to my standard arrival gift).

The front desk associate who checked me in took it upon himself to upgrade me simply because he noticed that we were a party of three. I didn't ask for the upgrade....or the second welcome gift. But as far as I'm concerned the hotel did a great job of showing greater hospitality/throwing in some perks for me as an elite....especially considering what I was paying. Brekkie or no brekkie.
