As a platinum, my 2 stays at the Danieli during a period of light occupation were upgraded to a Suite overlooking the Lagoon, very large bedroom, bathroom and separate living room. They threw in a bottle of sparkling wine (spumante). The room was overlooking the Riva degli Schiavoni and the Lagoon (the main facade of the hotel). Definitely a true Venician decadent experience. Would do it again.

Treatment at Gritti was equally good... The Acqua Alta (high waters) kind of spoiled the next morning. It is great fun the first time you see it and a annoyance thereafter.
