December last week trip to NM ..
We are planning a 5 day trip to NM (ABQ, Santa Fe and Taos area) during Christmas.
My question is, is that a good time to visit NM? we are not into skiing so thats out of question..

You can visit there area at any time. ABS/Santa Fe and Taos area does experience winter weather. Albuquerque is around 6,000 ft, Santa Fe at 8500 feet.

It's a fine time to visit. Snow is possible but not a given especially at the lower elevations. There will be a number of places decked out in farolitos (commonly called luminarias to tourists), which is a unique sight. The Santa Fe Plaza and Old Town in Albuquerque are two such places.

ABQ is around 5,000 feet altitude, SAF is 7,100, Taos is about 7,000 feet. Late December is a wonderful of year to visit northern New Mexico. All the cities and towns are decked in holiday finery, there are many cultural events, everything is very festive. If you're in Santa Fe on Christmas Eve do attend the "Farolito Walk" on Canyon Road. If you're lucky you'll see snow on the ground everywhere at that time of year. Make reservations right away, hotels are full with winter visitors.
